When mining causes Windows to reboot on its own and interrupt mining.

I’ve been running my mining rig for three months.

Through trial and error, I managed to get the mining rig to run stably without stopping.

A problem that often occurred was that Windows would reboot on its own, interrupting the mining process.

Please refer to the following solutions as an example only.

Note that the mining software is Nicehash Miner, not Nicehash QuickMiner.

Problem: Windows restarts on its own and interrupts mining.

Cause: Graphics card overheating.

Here’s the solution: change the plug-ins for the problematic graphics card and mine it.

In order to improve mining efficiency, I change the graphics card overclock with “MSI Afterburner”, and “NBMiner” in “Nicehash Miner” plugin restarts mining periodically.

At that time, somehow the overclocking setting of one of the graphics cards was released, and it started mining as it was, so the fan controller of “MSI Afterburner” could not control it, and the graphics card became hot, and the Windows OS rebooted. The fan controller of “MSI Afterburner” could not be controlled, and the graphics card became hot, resulting in a reboot of Windows OS. The fan of the graphics card was roaring loudly just before the reboot.

When the mining restarts, you can reconfigure it with “MSI Afterburner”, but you can’t be around the mining rig all the time.

So far, I have been mining with the “NBMiner” plugin, but when I changed the problematic graphics card to the “NanoMiner” plugin, the mining operation became stable.

The change procedure is

1. Stop mining Nicehash Miner.
2. Open the “Benchmark” tab.
3. Open the graphics card you want to change the plug-in for.
4. Turn off the “NBMiner” algorithm.
5. Turn on the “NanoMiner” algorithm.
6. Start mining

If you run mining with multiple algorithms, a window for each algorithm will open and mine.

NBMiner restarts mining periodically, but no longer removes the MSI Afterburner setting, and no longer reboots Windows.
