Can we profit from mining now and with the LHR version?

In conclusion, it is possible to make a profit if you use a high performance graphics card.
However, your earnings will increase or decrease depending on the price fluctuations of bitcoin. If the value of bitcoin continues to decline, it may become difficult to monetize. The situation changes daily.
In addition, it takes a certain amount of time to recover the upfront investment made to start mining, so it is suitable for people who can wait patiently.
Please refer to this as an example only.
The LHR version is a graphics card with a “Lite Hash Rate”, which means that the mining performance is limited to about 50%, but the limitation is only for Ethereum mining, not for other types of mining.
As of November 2021, I tried for a week to see if I could mine in my free time on a computer used for rendering 3D images (one GeForce RTX 3070 Ti LHR graphics card), and the results showed that I was paid about $3.4 a day, with an electricity bill of about $1.7. The reward is paid in bitcoins, so I am currently mining with 4 graphics cards, hoping that the crypto assets will increase further.
Configuration of a mining rig
In this day and age, the high price of graphics cards is unavoidable.
But I want to make the initial investment as cheap as possible.
I searched for the cheapest prices on Rakuten and Amazon, and used auctions to get the equipment I needed for my mining rig.
The whole thing cost me about $3500, though…
- Graphics card (Required. As good as possible)
- ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3070 Ti AMP Extreme Holo ZT-A30710B-10P LHR Version (Purchased at an online store, about $1130.)
- Geforce GALAKURO GALAX RTX3060Ti 8GB LHR Version(Sold at auction, about $825.)
- riser card(Need as many graphics cards as you need)
- motherboard(Need. I made a motherboard specifically for mining.)
- BIOSTAR TB250-BTC (Sold at auction, about $130.)
- CPU (Must be required. Must be compatible with the motherboard socket. (Does not have to be high performance)
- Intel Pentium G4560 LGA1151(Sold at auction, about $60.)
- Cooling fan(Needed to cool the CPU)
- 白虎弐 SCBYK-2000I

- Computer memory(Need)
- SSD(Required if running on Windows OS)
- Power supply unit(Need. 1,000W is necessary if you want to add graphics cards later.)
- ANTEC HCG1000 EXTREME
- ANTEC HCG1000 EXTREME
- OS(There is also a dedicated OS for mining.)
- Windows10 home
- USB memory(Required when installing Windows OS.)
- Rig frame(Not necessary if you want to make your own.)
- BOERLKY 6 GPU

- Power switch(Required if the motherboard does not have a switch, may be included with the rig frame.)created by Rinker¥816 (2025/04/05 08:39:13時点 楽天市場調べ-詳細)
- Coin-type battery(Required for the motherboard’s internal battery.)
- Graphics Card Support Stay(For large graphics cards with triple fans, a rig frame alone may not be enough to support the card, so it is better to have one.)

- Wattmeter(It’s very useful to know the power consumption and electricity rates.)
- Monitor(Required for the initial OS installation and configuration.)
- Cables to connect the monitor to the graphics card(It won’t show without it.)
So what’s the actual profit?
One week has passed since I started operating the mining rig.
As of November 22, I’m getting about $5 a day and my electricity bill is about 200 yen, so my profit is about $3.5 a day.
So, it will take me two years to recover my investment.
But I’m planning to add another graphics card, so we’ll see how that changes things.
Note: As of February 2022, I am running with four graphics cards.
